Owner

The owner is the member who ultimately controls a syndicate. A syndicate has at least one owner — there can be more than one. Owners can do everything an admin can do, plus the actions that stop the syndicate being usable if misapplied: deleting the syndicate and transferring ownership to another member.

The person who creates a syndicate is automatically its first owner.

The role itself is assigned to members. Any existing owner can promote an admin to owner through the member edit dialog. The last remaining owner cannot leave the syndicate or have their role changed — the app blocks both actions and prompts the owner to transfer ownership first.

Open any syndicate, go to the Members tab, and a crown or “Owner” label appears beside every owner. Admins and owners editing a member can promote them to owner from the role selector in the edit dialog.

Owner-only actions live in:

  • Edit syndicate — pencil icon next to the syndicate name in the app bar.
  • Settings — owner-only sections of the syndicate settings hub.
  • Member edit dialog — the role field shows “Owner” as an option only to existing owners.

An owner sees the same UI as an admin, plus these owner-only actions:

ActionWhere
Delete the syndicateEdit syndicate screen, destructive-action section.
Transfer ownershipMember edit dialog — promote another member to owner.
Demote self from ownerIndirect: happens automatically when you transfer ownership to another member.
  • Every syndicate must have at least one owner. The app enforces this by preventing the last owner from being removed, demoted, or leaving the syndicate.
  • Promoting a member to owner transfers ownership. When you promote another member to owner, your own role is automatically demoted from owner to admin in the same operation.
  • An owner can promote more than one member to owner — multiple owners is a valid configuration.
  • Deleting the syndicate is irreversible and affects every member. It removes all bookings, members, assets, and financial history belonging to that syndicate.
  • An owner who has an outstanding balance cannot be removed until the balance is cleared.
  • Admin — the role just below owner, which does everything except delete and transfer.
  • Member — the standard booking-and-using role.
  • Viewer — read-only access.
  • Role capability matrix — the full table of who can do what.
