Archive an asset

Remove an asset from a syndicate.

  • Only owners and admins can remove assets.
  • The UI button is labelled Delete Asset, and the action is permanent. It removes the asset together with its bookings, squawks, maintenance items, and maintenance logs. Usage logs, expenses, and settled transactions remain in the syndicate’s records for audit purposes but are no longer attached to a live asset.
  • There is no separate “archive” state in the current app — removal is either in place, or it hasn’t happened. If you’re considering it because an aircraft is temporarily grounded, use a grounding squawk instead: it blocks new bookings on the asset without removing it. See Report a squawk when that how-to lands.
  • The confirmation requires you to retype the asset’s name or registration to prevent accidents.
  1. Open the syndicate and switch to the Assets tab.
  2. Tap the asset card to open its detail screen.
  3. Tap Edit Asset (in Quick Actions) to open the edit screen.
  4. Scroll to the Danger Zone at the bottom. It carries the warning: “Once you delete an asset, there is no going back. All bookings, squawks, and maintenance records will be permanently deleted.”
  5. Tap Delete Asset (red).
  6. A confirmation dialog opens. It shows the content warning again and asks you to type the asset’s name or registration exactly. Type it into the field.
  7. The Delete button activates only once the text matches. Tap Delete to confirm, or Cancel to back out.

On success, you are returned to the syndicate detail screen and the asset is gone.

  • The Delete button stays disabled. The typed text doesn’t exactly match. The match is case-sensitive and the hint in the field shows what to type.
  • You deleted the wrong asset. The deletion is permanent and cannot be undone from the UI. Bookings, squawks, and maintenance records for the deleted asset are gone. Contact support if this was a mistake — recovery depends on database backups.
