Engine meter

Engine meter is the generic term for whatever hour meter an asset carries — a Hobbs meter, a tach meter, an hours-run counter on a boat engine, or any other running-time gauge. Syndik8 uses the generic word internally; each asset sets its own display label.

A syndicate’s engine meter label is a free-text field — typical values are “Hobbs” or “Tacho” but anything is allowed. The label appears on the usage log as the Start and End field captions, and anywhere else an engine-meter value is shown.

Engine meter is one of two time sources Syndik8 supports for billing. The other is clock time — off-blocks to on-blocks. The billing basis picks which one drives the hourly charge.
