Functional cookie
A functional cookie is a cookie that is strictly necessary for a site or app to function — authentication, session handling, theme preference, and so on. Unlike tracking or analytics cookies, functional cookies do not require user consent under UK PECR or EU GDPR, and no consent banner is needed for them alone.
At launch, Syndik8’s marketing and documentation sites use functional cookies only. Cloudflare Web Analytics is used in place of Google Analytics — it sets no cookies. No third-party cookies are ever set.
When the in-app AI documentation assistant ships, it will set a Supabase JWT cookie for authenticating paying users. That cookie is still functional (authentication is strictly necessary), and the disclosure will live in the privacy policy rather than a separate banner.
