Tentative (pencilled-in) booking

A tentative booking — also called a pencilled-in booking — is a non-binding hold on the asset. It says “I might want this slot” without taking the slot out of circulation. Multiple tentative bookings can cover the same time on the same asset, and a tentative never blocks a confirmed one.

Tentative is an explicit opt-in when creating a booking. It is never the default. Promoting a tentative to confirmed changes its status in place — it does not create a second booking. On confirmation, the normal conflict and approval rules apply.

The calendar renders tentatives with diagonal hatching to distinguish them from confirmed bookings, which are solid.
