Upgrade prompt

The upgrade prompt is what you see when a free-tier action (adding a second asset, or inviting a fourth member) would take a syndicate over one of its limits. The action is always blocked; what differs is how the user is invited to upgrade.

  • On web, a dialog offers Cancel and Upgrade Now. Upgrade Now opens the checkout URL in a new browser tab; there is no email.
  • On iOS and Android, a snackbar shows the limit message with no call-to-action button (App Store and Google Play rules forbid it), and the app automatically sends an upgrade email to the account holder’s email address. No user interaction is needed to trigger the email.

On web, Upgrade Now opens the payment provider’s hosted checkout directly. See web-email-handoff for why mobile takes the email route instead.
