Choose what you get notified about

Set which notification types send you a push on your phone or an email to your account — one row per type, two columns (Push and Email).

  • Preferences are per user, not per syndicate. If you belong to more than one syndicate, your settings apply everywhere.
  • The in-app notification centre is always on — it is the record of what you have been notified about. You can silence push and email but not the centre itself.
  • Push is mobile-only. On web, the Push column is hidden.
  • On mobile, push also depends on the OS-level permission. If you have denied push in iOS or Android settings, the Push toggles stay visible but do nothing until you grant permission in the device settings.
  1. Open the Account screen.
  2. Tap Notification Preferences. The screen opens with two columns, Push and Email (or Email only on web).
  3. Rows are grouped by category: Squawks, Bookings, Assets, Maintenance, Expenses. Scroll to the row you want to change.
  4. Tap the toggle in the Push or Email column for that row. Changes save immediately.
  5. Repeat for any other rows. The sticky category headers stay visible as you scroll so you always know which group you are in.
  • Members see member-facing rows only.
  • Admins and owners also see admin-only rows — for example Booking requested, Expense submitted, Maintenance due.
  • If you are an admin in any syndicate you own or admin, the admin-only rows appear for all syndicates, not just one.

A small number of system-lifecycle notifications (verification complete, payment system status) always fire and do not appear on the preferences screen.

A small number of rows appear with both toggles locked on and a Required by Syndik8 subtitle. These are flagged critical because they carry billing-accuracy or financial-integrity information — silencing them would let problems go unnoticed until reconciliation.

Today, the only critical type is Tacho discrepancy, which fires when an auto-finalising flight’s start meter disagrees with the previous flight’s end meter on the same asset. The category itself can still be collapsed, and you can still see the notification in the in-app centre regardless. The lock only applies to the per-channel push and email switches.

See Notification types — Critical types for the full list.

  • Push toggles are greyed out on mobile. Push permission is denied at the OS level. Open your device settings, find Syndik8, and turn notifications on. When the app next resumes, it offers to bulk-enable push across categories. (If a single row is locked on with a Required by Syndik8 subtitle, that’s a critical type and the lock is intentional — see Some types you can’t silence above.)
  • You don’t see the Push column. You are on the web. Open the app on iOS or Android to set push preferences.
  • An admin-only row is missing. You do not currently hold admin or owner in any syndicate. Ask the owner to promote you, or ignore the row — the notifications are not relevant to your role.
  • Toggles don’t seem to save. The screen shows an error banner on save failure. Check your connection and try again.
