Enable biometric unlock
Use Face ID, Touch ID, or a fingerprint sensor to sign in on your phone or tablet.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Your device must have a working biometric sensor that you’ve already set up in the operating system’s own settings (for example, Face ID or Touch ID on iOS, or a fingerprint on Android).
- Biometric unlock is a mobile-only option. On the web it does not appear in settings.
- If your device has no biometric hardware, the toggle does not appear — there is no way to enable it, and Syndik8 will not prompt you to.
- Sign in with your email and password as normal.
- Open the Profile tab.
- In the Security section, find Biometric unlock. Its subtitle reads “Use Face ID or fingerprint to unlock the app”.
- Tap the switch to the on position. The device prompts you to authenticate with your biometric — follow that prompt.
- After the biometric check succeeds, Syndik8 asks you to re-enter your password in the Confirm Password dialog. This stores your sign-in credentials securely on the device so the app can complete future sign-ins after a biometric check.
- Tap the button to confirm. A snackbar confirms Biometric unlock enabled.
Next time you open Syndik8, the unlock screen prompts you to authenticate with your biometric instead of typing your password.
Turn it off again
Section titled “Turn it off again”In the same Security section, tap the Biometric unlock switch to the off position. A snackbar confirms Biometric unlock disabled. The stored credentials are removed from the device.
If it goes wrong
Section titled “If it goes wrong”- The toggle isn’t visible. The device either has no biometric hardware, or none is enrolled in the operating system. Set up Face ID, Touch ID, or a fingerprint in your device’s own settings first, then reopen Syndik8.
- “Your password has changed. Please sign in manually.” The stored credentials no longer match your account — this happens after a password reset. Sign in with your password once, then re-enable biometric unlock in settings.
- The biometric prompt fails and cancels. The device is rejecting your face or fingerprint. Check whether the sensor works in other apps; if it doesn’t, re-enrol in your device’s own settings.
